Wrap your mind around this: peanut butter Rice Krispies treats.

This is something I’d never even heard of, but knew immediately upon seeing them that I wanted one. Or two. Or three.

This is a picture of me holding one.

Where did it go?

Wait, where did it go? Oh yeah, I ate it already…

I discovered these thanks to some church ladies who provided lunch at the MSU Baptist Student Union. If you don’t already know, church ladies have the power to channel God’s power through holy morsels of dessert.

Since they were so original — and so good — I had to get the recipe from them. Here it is:

  • Melt 1 cup each of peanut butter, sugar, and corn syrup together in a saucepan.
  • Mix in 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal (though, of course, ANY generic brand will suffice at a better price).
  • Spread the mixture into a pan and let cool. Once it hardens, cut up and serve.
  • They didn’t mention it, but you should also probably get right with God before you try making these. I’m certain it is key to your success as a maker of homemade confections.

Edit 2/6/12: I have it from a reliable source that you can substitute corn flakes for the Rice Krispies for a similar result.
